About the Courses

A student after obtaining a graduation degree can opt for Law. The degree is suited to students who wish to pursue a career in which knowledge of law and legal system is of major importance. A student passing his LL.B. Examination is deemed to be a graduate in law. It's a 3 year degree course.

Aims & Objective

The prime objective of the Asian College of Law is to cultivate and promote the science of law and to contribute substantially in reforming the administration of justice, so as to meet the socio-economic aspirations and needs of the people through law and its instrumentalities. The Institute has achieved the place of a premier center of national & international legal research and studies, in which the lawyers from all branches of the profession, judges, government officials and academicians have been participating.

The broad objectives of the Asian College of Law are :

• To cultivate the science of law, and to promote advanced studies and research in law and its administration

• To promote the reform of administration of justice and of law and its health/development suitable to the social, economic and other needs of the people

• To promote the clarification, simplification and systematization of law

• To encourage and conduct investigations in legal and allied fields

• To promote the diffusion of the knowledge of law and its administration and principles on which they are based

• To publish studies, treatises, books, periodicals, reports and other literature relating to law and allied fields

• To undertake documentation of important legal and allied materials

• To institute and maintain libraries

• To cooperate with other societies, institutions and organizations, national and international, in the pursuit of all or any of the above objects

• To constitute or cause to be constituted regional offices at convenient centers in India to promote the activities of the Institute.

Capacity

Today Asian College of Law has a sanctioned capacity of 300 students for LL.B. 3 year course and 180 Seats in B.A. LL.B. course. Asian college of Law has redeemed its pledge to make the college a niche centre of legal education. The students of Law College have been consistently securing top ranks in the university examinations. The college boasts of several rank holders and gold medalists among its alumni.

Eligibility for LL.B. 3 yrs.

A student after passing the graduation examination from any Indian university incorporated by the law for the time being in force or any other examination recognized by the university with at least 45% of marks in case of general, 42% of marks in case of other backward categories and 40% marks in case of SC/ST applicants. Admission Procedure. Admission will be done on the merit basis. Declared by the University

Eligibility for B.A. LL.B. 5 yrs.

A student shall be eligible for admission into semester I of the B.A. LL.B. 5 year integrated course in law if he / she has passed the Intermediate (10 + 2) examination held by any recognized board of India with at least 45% of marks in case of general, 42% of marks in case of OBC and 40% marks in case of SC/ST students in any stream. Admission Procedure. Admission will be done on the merit basis. Declared by the University

Internship

Each student will have to complete minimum of 12 weeks internship for integrate course during the entire period of studies provided that internship in any year cannot be for a continuous period of more than 4 weeks. The student may do their internship during winter and summer vacations.

Attendance

The student shall be required to put in a minimum attendance of 75% in the lectures on each of the subjects as also in the moot court session and in practical in the courts.

Participation in Lok Adalat

As a part of training under internship, participation in Lok Adalat proceedings is compulsory.

Legal Awareness Programme

LL.B. final years students have to organized Legal awareness programme at Block Level. The participation of the legal Panchayat representatives of the blocks are invited. Issues concerning the working of Panchayats are discussed and panchayat members are educated about their duties and way of functioning and also given free legal aid to needed persons

Court Training

Final year students of LL.B. have to attend and observe the trial proceeding of civil cases and criminal cases in the court.

Library

The college has a very rich central library with approximately 4000 books. The library subscribes 56 Journals. Some of these books are very rare. It has a seating capacity for more than 500 students. The library opens from 9.00 AM to 8.00 PM for 365 days in a year. Library building has internet facility.
